General Tips for ALL Conditions:

  • Stay ALERT!
  • Slow down, you’ll inevitably get to where you need to be.
  • Leave space between yourself and the vehicle ahead.
  • Minimize distractions by putting your phone out of sight & setting a playlist before you begin to drive.
  • When in doubt, if your gut feels uneasy, allow yourself to pull over to a safe location.
  • Before heading out, take care to check tire pressure and tread, refill wiper fluid and antifreeze, and make sure wipers are in good working condition.
  • Always keep a small stash tucked away within the trunk or under a seat: water, blankets, etc.

For when it SNOWS

  • Take the time to clear vehicle of all snow and ice – it is always a good idea to keep a snow scraper hidden away – it will certainly come in handy.
  • Disengage cruise control.
  • Watch closely for slippery spots and black ice.

For when there is ICE

  • Slow down gradually, and avoid slamming on the breaks.
  • Avoid stopping while traveling up a hill. If possible take a different route altogether.
  • Use extra caution on bridges and overpasses.

For when it RAINS

  • Ease off the gas, slow down and steer straight ahead if sliding.
  • Stay in the middle lanes.
  • Avoid using high beams.

For when there is FOG

  • Turn on low beam headlights and fog lights.
  • Use the road lines as a guide.
  • Turn on defroster to keep windows clear.
